THE FARM

Tracey and Donna Bemis first met in 1978 at the Old Soldier’s reunion in Heber Springs, Arkansas. At the time, Tracey’s job was delivering tree transplanters across the nation for BIG JOHN Manufacturing. (Located in Heber Springs) Shortly after meeting, the couple married and started a family.

In 1978, the tree farm was first planted by the previous owner with the intent of transplanting large shade trees. Tracey began working for the previous owner in 1984.

Tracey and Donna purchased the farm in 1992 and established Bemis Tree Farm. The farm included 80 acres of land, along with a 90″ Big John Tree Transplanter mounted on a 1985 Mack Truck. There they created a home with their two sons, Nathan and Jeremy.

Since 1992, the farm has grown and expanded into other areas. In 2012, Jeremy Bemis started a professional stump grinding business, Stump Busters. The following year, Bemis Honey Bee Farm was created providing honey bees, beekeeping supplies, and educational classes. The farm has now expanded to 170 acres and includes a full onsite retail store. Jeremy’s wife, Emily, runs the landscape/beekeeping supply store. Their two sons, Benjamin and Judah, are great helpers on the farm as well.
